The book I have indicates that my 70 340 A66 engine should be Hemi Orange but, it appears to have been blue at one time. Does anyone know what is the correct color is for the engine? Thanks

Most 1970 model 340 4bbls were painted Street Hemi Orange. I say most because you can never say "all" or "never" with Chrysler.

All the other LA engines that year were Blue. So you can see how the odd mistake could be made.

340 4bbls continued to be painted Street Hemi Orange until April 1971 when they started painting those blue as well.

Of course someone could have swapped your 340 for a 318....

Someone who wanted to keep the 340 for something else.

Hey I was only kidding! But if you are worried about it the engine size is stamped on the front of the block just under the drivers side cylinder head.

It's been a while but think it was orange. Probably not blue as there is no evidence of it whatsoever.

Where was you car built?

Jon,
Nope no broadcast sheet, I was told most LA cars didnt have a broadcast sheet. I have an order #037962. The hood was painted last night and I have the engine compartment put back together and ready for the engine to be installed. Saturday the entire car will be wet sanded to 3000 and buffed out. I can't wait to see it after buffing. Hopefull the engine will be installed next week. I am getting ready to overload you guys with picture. How about some pics of your car Jon? Too bad you are so far away, we could have gotten the cars together for a birthday drink.

Nice to hear the restoration is moving so quickly. Alot of guys wait years to get work done, you must be helping out. :)

Here's an old picture, well before I did my resto in 89. Pretty much original as far as I can tell it's from 1977.
