On my 440 six pak engine, the casting date on the right side of the block is 10-30-69, yet on the top near the front of the intake the numbers are as follows: F440, then under that is: 12-10-HP. The casting number of the engine block is 2536430-7 and the VIN number stamped is 0B218114. Is 12-10 the date the engine was installed in the car? Does anyone have the car with VIN number 0B218114?

The date the engine was built.

The blocks were cast in batches (hence a casting date) and would sit around for a while before being used to make a complete engine (the date stamped on the pad).

Got it ! Thus the VIN number OB218114 would have been produced sometime in late December or early January. A few weeks after the engine was assembled on Dec 10th 1969.
