no 440 u code motor in 1971

Postby rtse4406pack » 08 Sep 2008 23:11

i was chatting about motors with a friend at a cruise.he said that in 1971 dodge did not put the 440 4 barrel motor in the challengers just the 440 6 pack was available.

i went through barry's library on his registry web site and that guy was right,no 440 regular motor for 1971 according to the data book.

why would dodge get rid of this 440 u code motor and only offer the 440 6 pack v code motor?

anyone know why?

They were phasing out the big block. They probably had plenty of six pack and Hemi engines to shift before they stopped producing big block cars.
