360 markings

Postby Thedeputy » 10 Jul 2008 20:18

Hi Guys,

I bought a disassembled 1978 360 and I found some markings on the underside of the block, where you mount the oilpan. At each cilinder the letter "S" is stamped into the block.
Can anyone tell me what it means.
I also have some heads with it, and the seller told me they are TA heads. They are 915 J-heads and on the underside there's also a "U" cast onto the intake runner. Valves look to be original 2.02 and 1.6.
Are these genuine TA heads??

I believe one 'tipoff to those Trans Am heads are the enlarged pushrod holes. Does he have the original rocker gear? Shafts and rockers?

I have a set of rockers with them, but they are aftermarket for a solid cam. I included some pics of them
