Correct oil pressure

Guys what is the correct reading on the dash for the oil pressure when running the car
i.e. what is should say when in drive etc??
Had mine in drive today sitting at the lights and it was pretty low I have to say, the next line above the L

It should at least be somewhere in the middle on the stock gauge I think but as it is electrical it could just be a bad connection on one end of the wire. Try cleaning the spade connector on the top of the pressure sender (at the back of the block on the top - dome shaped can thing) and see if that helps.
The only way to be 100% sure what your oil pressure is would be to fit a mechanical pressure gauge.

A brown? wire comes off the bulkhead near the ballast resistor and goes to a small can mounted on the rear of the engine in the middle just behind the back edge of the valley pan.
If you get lost on the way there ask a Policeman.

I couldn't remember this and had to look it up. It might help.
MP recommend that on a performance engine you should have 50psi pressure at 5000rpm min. Plus 10psi for every 1000rpm over that.
But the stock type pressure relief spring in the pump maxes out at around 45-55psi so for high performance use it is best to fit the stronger (black) spring used in 440HP, six pack, hemis etc.
The lowest you should EVER let pressure get (even at idle) is 15psi. Any lower than that is a no no.
Only a good mechanical guage will tell you what the actual pressure is. The stock type guage is only any good to show that you have SOME pressure.

I don't think the car will be finished in time.
I banged my head twice working on it at the weekend. That hurt big time. I had to take it easy after both times. My brain is still on the "sensitive" side.
I will be there anyway. Chally or not.

Bugger..it would have been nice to see your car in flight...But I get to meet up with you again so thats kool...hey Dave can you run fast....its just since you wont have your challenger with you its unlikely you will be able to catch me when I get into all that trouble over there...what with me stating that Im your YOUNGER AND MORE HANDSOME Irish cousin when I get nabbed by the powers that be!!
