hi all....im curently building a 383 with these specs.... stock crank.. polish and new bearing... edelbrock 7194 camshaft: Duration at 0.006" Lift: Intake: 300° Exhaust: 308°
Duration at 0.050" Lift: Intake: 238° Exhaust: 246°
Lift at Cam: Intake: 0.320" Exhaust: 0.330"
Lift at Valve: Intake: 0.480" Exhaust: 0.495"...with matching valves springs....edelbrock double roller timming chain...edelbrock torquer aluminium intake.....edelbrock 750 cfm performer series....full length hedman headers 1 7/8 ..3'' out....906's with little porting, and bigger exhaust valves(1.81)....(88 cc)...keith black dome pistons..(6.26cc dome)...about 9.8 comp ratio...2500 torque stall..3.91 posi rear gear...lakewood traction bars.....and my question is......how do you guys think my motor will have horsepower ?....im planning to run the car mostly on the streets and some highway (i know the gear are bit big for highway but planning 55-65 mph max...speed limit down here 55 mph)...and want to have some fun on the 1/8 dragstrip by the week end ...im thinking of mayby 9.5 sec on a 1/8 miles track..(last year ran 10.70 with stock tired 2bbl 383 and 2.76 open gear)....can it be possible or im just dreaming.....thank you all for reply.... :V8: :s004:

My guess would be almost 400 hp and 8.8 - 9.0 sec 1/8 miles time

I would think the Victor intake over the torquer would be a better intake for your gear and cam selection. The Torquer is a decent intake but lacks the plenum volume for what I believe you want,(A strong mid-range to top end). The rest of the combo looks fine, I would use solid lifters for a no problem high rpm motor or hydraulic and adjustable valvetrain in either situation, (an adjustable rocker arm set-up with hydraulic cam can give you more rpms from correct pre-load). S trong 383 can take down a 440. Seen it done many times! 383's rock! Big bore short stroke mid rod screamer!(It had possibly the best bore stroke ratio of the era) Replace the 906's with 440 source heads and it's 500 H.P. all day long
