Yes The outers were modified for acc pumps and squirters. Stainless steel adjustable progressive linkage.

With a dual plane manifold, I think the stock set-up with vacuum secondries is the best way to go for a true street engine. Dave had mechanical secondaries,,but he also had a few problems from memory. Ade, I would call Holley before drilling anything. The idle/high speed bleeds will control the fuel curve at various points. The passage ways to be drilled must be a certain size and the holes may be finely honed with no abrupt tooling cuts. This may or may not be hard to accomplish with pin drills,dont know never done it before, this is why I would contact Holley 1st

The problems I had were to do with fuel and air delivery at idle with a big camshaft. Swapping to a metering block from an 850DP carb and drilling a few air holes in teh throttle plates was all that is needed.

The passagways for the idle circuits are not size sensitive. The bleeds are what control it and you don't have to touch those. In fact never touch those unless you really have to and only after making sure you can re-fill and re-drill them back to teh original size after it goes tits up.

No I loved my mechanical six pack. It was ace.

I was at Pete Wisemans yesterday helping him with his SixPack Super Bee, fitting some oil cooler lines that I keep at work.
Gimme a good chance to look over his installation though, progressive mechanical linkage, acc pumps on the outer carbs, very neat.
No bowl vent on his centre carb though, is that some emissions mod from '71 ?
I done some research on various Holley sites and some have suggested that the only reason that the outer carbs had idle circuits was to stop fuel from going stale in the float bowls by using it

I've got hold of a spare blank base now anyway so a quick trip to the parts monkeys for a valley gasket and some odd carb gaskets and it'll be on in a week or so

The extra idle circuits come in handy if you fit a bigger camshaft because big cammed engines need more air and fuel at idle. This is where I struggled with mine and why I ended up using a different metering block.

The six pack on Pete's Coronet is a "Six Packs To Go" modification exactly the same as the one I had. But they modify your existing carbs and I assume if there is no bowl vent on his carb then that is the way that one came. Or (more likely) the bowl has been replaced. Because even my 1972/73 six pack had a bowl vent.

Pete was struggling to tune his and although he was asking my advice, he was not always following it.

It turned out in the end that he had a manifold vacuum leak.

Yeah he said about some of the carb bolt holes in the manifold aren't blind and are open to atmosphere, little sealing washers under the bolt heads and some sealant on the threads cured it.

I dont know if i solved the idel trubbel by the book but when i drilled up the air bleed holes in the outer carbs throttle blades it workt realy great and i did that after i reed the Jerry Binder ad and i know he wrote only do that as a last try to make it work but it did on my engine and i cant say that anything is of as i can floor the gas pedal from idel and boy it kicks !
