CAT rods from 440 source

Postby pscartozzi » 22 Sep 2007 5:25

Any thoughts on the factory style replacement rods from CAT as sold by 440source? The ones with the 7/16" bolts. ARP bolts and they're made in the US. THey only want like $250 for them.
I am looking to build a mild perf 440 (low 13's in a Challenger with 3.91's)

Low 13s isn't going to stress anything. Stock rods will do.

You can use the ARP wavelocks bolts in your stock rods without re-sizing the rods,(they have a self centering feature), and will save you even more money. Stock Chrysler rods are very strong! BTW, I thought C.A.T. rods were outsourced and the bolts are ARP which of course are U.S. made? :?

According to 440source the rods are made in California.

So my local shop wants $150 to rework the stock rods, add another $60 for ARP bolts and your at $210, without any shipping.
So the Cat rods would be a good 0-cycle bargain if they are any good. Anyone use them?

I know people who have used them but not in MoPar engines. They seem to work just fine.
