does anyone have tti headers. are they worth the price?

I have seen them. But I have not personally used them. I would like them. They are works of art. Can you put a price on art?

I have heard they fit perfect with no need for 'adjustment' with a hammer. They also give good ground clearance.

If I had the money I would use them. I might anyway the next time I need a pair!

Someone told me for "cheap" horsepower..I'd be
wise to change my stock 340 exaust manifolds
for a set of heddman headers.There's some brand
new on Ebay I'm thinking of bidding on.

What improvement can I expect.Is there anything
I should ask the seller about in terms of fit
for my car..It is an automatic.What are they
worth in the U.S?

Hey Larry, Dependant upon the price you may want to buy your headers brand new instead of through E-Bay. Summit Racing makes a set that are identical to the Hedman version that sells for about $100.00 (including shipping) if you are in the states.

Adding one bit or another to a stock system rarely produces much in the way of power gains. Engines have to work as a SYSTEM. Each part has to be matched with another.

In fact in some cases adding a performance part by itself can result in less power.

However in the case of header exhaust pipes you WILL get an improvement with this one simple change. Even though you will not get as much benifit as you would by adding a matching cam/heads/intake it is still the best place to start when looking for performance as non of the other performance parts work well without headers.

The performance gain will be around the 20hp mark with no other changes.

What you will also get is an increase in under hood temperature, more noise, and - if you buy cheap headers - leaking exhaust gaskets.

I have questions for anyone out there that have your headers wrapped. Did you see any significant reduction in under-hood heat after wrapping them? When wrapping the tubes have you found it easier to start at the engine block or the collector's and did you use tie downs on both ends of the wrap or not? I am about to wrap mine and would like to do it right the first time - so if anyone has advice I would like to hear it! Thanks,

It is cooler under there I am sure. But how much cooler I am not sure. I have stopped melting cables etc since I started using it.

Always start at the head end and work down towards the collector. Use ties at both ends. Overlap by 50% only as you go. It is a pig of a job.

If the headers need hitting with a hammer to clear stuff in the engine bay then sort that out first. Also check you have allowed for the extra thickness of the pipes once they are wrapped.

I just got my car and was told by someone who
has a good ear for these cars that there was probably a performance cam in the car.How can I
tell?I don't know a lot about it.What can I tell
by popping a valve cover?
Can you recommend a good set of headers for my

There is no easy way to tell the spec of the cam that is installed. Particularly if it uses hydraulic lifters.

With headers (and most things) you get what you pay for. Headers cost between $100-$800. Guess which is better.

all my header wrap did was trap moisture and rot
the headers out.

Mine don't trap moisture. If they get wet while on the road they dry out pretty damn quick. The reason they rot the headers is that the steel gets a lot hotter than stock. This speeds up the proccess of oxidisation (rusting).

At the time I opted for the cheap header/wrap solution because you could get two sets of headers and wrap for less than one pair of ceramic coated headers.

I think the next time I will go the expensive/bolt them up and forget about them ceramic route.
