Because you rebuild your whole car instead of only the engine...

Congrats on an engine that is the most beautiful thing anyone will ever see. My 440 was designed for getting bread and milk. Your Hemi was designed to obliterate the competition, and it still does very successfully decades Later. I am envious I would have insomnia due to being out in my shop instead of bed!

there is a guy with a 70 Hemi Chally (clone).
but is a very eccentric man and the car doesn't see the streets.

if we can't see it, it doesn't exist...

so, Plum's Hemi can be considered the only one...

I thought about it a lot.
He promised me the fuel economy will be around the same engine with a single big quad, something like a 950/1050, probably higher than 750 but not far.

I have the 440 numbers, I will check it and I will post it.

Car was rebuilt with a 440. Now I try to introduce new changes.

Power rack and pinion, hydraulic by pass system for brakes and new hemi.

I want to make it more driveable and faster.


And as RR68 said, is not the only one but maybe the only one you can see on the street.

I go to Arruzza from this hemi challenger owner, he show me the papers about his engine and finally I decided to do it.

John sent me this mail today...

"Your engine has been picked up from Royal Development, it came in
at 830 pounds , everything is all set , I sent them an invoice etc,.

Good to see John used the Marine,(Holley), manifold, this way you can tune it to perfection with all the available Holley tuning parts, and of course they allow more fuel in "reserve" over the Carter style carbs. Man I bet you are very excited! Steve Magnante did a very good technical article on Holley Dual plane intakes vs. the Street Hemi inline Carter factory setup and the Holley equipped Hemi gave him an additional 30-50 H.P. over the stock carter inline setup. It also gave him better street drivability!

PC, are you going to use an auto or manual box? If you need a kickdown rod, they can be had at Mancini or Hoffmans winner circle.

I don't like use kick down, I simply move the pistol to second gear, then push accelerator.
Anyway on the street the big hemi have enough torque to go fast.
On the track I change gears 1-2-3rd, is not a manual valve body but is the way I do it.

You will damage the transmission this way!!!

You MUST either fit a kickdown OR fit a manual valve body.

Yes. None of the hydraulic pressures will be correct. The kickdown lever is actually a pressure regulator that compares engine speed and throttle position. Without it line pressure can be anything. Too high or too low.

You must fit a manual valve body (either normal or reverse shift pattern) if you do not use a kickdown. This is what they make manual valve bodies for!

I don't think they are very expensive.

Have you done anything else to the transmission to make it survive behind this Hemi? Have you checked the overrunning clutch at the back and fitted a high performance front drum to avoid a transmission explosion?

I would strongly advise that you do.

Plum Crazy. Here is what you need man. Rick Allison makes Exact reproductions of the kickdown linkage assembly. Bolt it on and go. Without a kickdown you WILL burn your 727-B up, man. Car has old kick down linkage, but I'm not sure it will fit with the new carb linkage.
As you're recommending I will try to install it, otherwise I try to get it new.

No, this tranny is a Hughes reinforced 747 maybe not enough if tires grips but I try to keep it slipping tires, at the moment no more budget to buy more.

Yesterday we did the first firing, but just the telephone was there to prove it.
