440 parts worth much

Postby Eddie » 20 Jun 2007 21:44

This is a set of 440 valve covers and my original bellhousing. Are they worth much,(like a used set of INDY 440-1's in cast iron),? Or just keep em for another 5-10 years.

The bellhousing might be worth keeping. A couple of years ago my u-joint gave out and cracked mine. I would've loved to have an extra to put in it's place. Instead I had to fork out 400 for the lakewood bellhousing.

Eddie,

How much would you want for the valve covers? Would those clear a set of Harlard Sharp 1.6 rockers and a mild comp cam (274/286)?

Thanks,

Thanks for the interest, but I'm afraid it wont clear the Harland Sharps. Thats why I went with the MoPar cast aluminum valve covers. It wont clear my Comp Cams Pro-Magnum Rockers and they are smaller physically than the Harland Sharp units I think. The stock valve covers have an oil shield welded inside them so oil pullover wont be a problem through the P.C.V..and into the carb. This shield interferes with the rockers.

Eddie, Does your wife know that you are using her living room table as a work bench? If those are original to your car, I would hang on to them. Just my opinion.

No she doesnt! If you tell her, I'll invite her over to your house during supper. You will be cleaned out my friend!! Seriously, I think I will keep on to them. The bellhousing is original to the car, not the valve covers.I was wrong about fitting under stock valve covers though. A friend e-mailed me that uses Harland Sharps and he also uses the stock covers and the Mancini Racing catalog shows them to fit. I was just curious as to the value. What I really need are Jack parts,(the hook, Jack assembly and spare tire). I dont have any of that stuff. I was thinking of trading parts actually.

Hey Eddie,

Called Harland today and they said the covers need to be "tall" ones and that stock will not fit. :s006: Oh well, I will go with a set of the tall jobbers. Thanks,
