Hi, i am in the process of collecting/finding parts to build a Hemi for my 71 R/T, have come across a pair of 71 coded Hemi heads and is wondering what whould be ok to pay for them.
These are the castings only and needs the full treatment.(no valves)

It really depends on what you are willing to pay for them and how important the heads be numbers matching. If the price is lets say more than a thousand, why not buy new castings enjoy your car and in the meantime look for a better deal, although good deal and Hemi parts are usually against Federal Law.

Hello Airfueleddie, yes i have found out that buying hemi parts at a good price is against the law...
That is why i will keep my 383 M and consentrate on building the car correct at first...
When i finish restoring my house i will check out the new parts as you mentioned. Some times (always?) the price they are asking for the factory parts are completely ridiculos. when you see the state they are in,cracked.welded etc... you take your pick.

I will probebly take a trip in the fall /early summer to the US,
any events in the Chicago area you would recomend ?

Greetings
Stones :D

Stones, at what time of year are you expected to arrive in the Chicago Ill. area? I live approx. 4 hours south of Chi-town and know that there are a lot of MoPar people in that area. There is the INDY trade show at Indianapolis In. also 4 hrs south of Chicago, the event is held in March 2007 at the Marsh pavillion. There will definitely be a lot of 440/Hemi parts both new and used for sale there. I am also in the Hemi "loop" as I am saving for a new 426 Block and am seriously thinking about a new World products casting.
