Hemi Orange Engine Paint

Postby dave-r » 09 May 2006 17:07

There has been lots of discussion over the years about finding a correct shade of Hemi orange engine paint.

Well the good news is I have found a source.

Bill Hirsch of Hirsch Auto supplies restoration materials for some of the best restored classic cars in the US.

I ordered a Quart of brush-on enamel and, although it took almost 7 weeks to get here by surface mail, it just arrived this morning.

Check out the photos I just took comparing it to my known good sample of correct hemi orange. It looks just a tiny fraction lighter but I think this is because it is still wet. I will take some more photos when the engine is painted.

Dave

Did you say this is a brush on paint?
Wow, I think I might get some of that.

Yes. Brush on. Mush easier than a rattle can. It will probably come in handy to touching up stone chips as well.
