I noticed the heat shield between the carb and manifold. How well does it work? My Holley boils/floods when hot and am thinking of trying that or a spacer.

Heat shields are easy to make and work well. An insulating gasket either side of it will help heaps too. The more reflective the underside of it the better it will work.

I made one for my six pack a little while ago. Not been tested yet though as the engine is still in bits.

Also if you don't use the choke block off the heat riser through the intake. This will keep the intake cooler to start with.

The spacer you made looks trick and does not appear to get in the way. I will give it a try once I finish my rust repair project.

Oh, and the heat riser is blocked off on my Edlebrock Ld340 intake manifold (I think???)

I used two "experimental" six pack cometic gaskets either side of my heat plate.

Made by FBO Systems.

They are supposed to insulate very well. I took a thin one and a thick one to try.

I found the bolt hole spacing to be out. Told them. Don at FBO that made them went into a huff and refused to believe he could be wrong so obviously I need to learn how to measure the distance between bolt holes in Holley 2bbl carbs because according to FBO they are all spaced differently. :roll:

But despite Don thinking the sun shines out of his backside they do look as if they will work well. As carb gaskets.

I would think twice about using this material for a head gasket though.
