numbers??

hi i found two numbers on my heads to day and i was woundering if anyone could help me understand them!!

nr1: 2406516-8

nr2: 99080

I have 2406516 listed as 1964-67 361-383 heads.

ok?? that is very strange beacause they sit on a 440!! is that even possible?

All B and RB heads are interchangable except for some of the race and max wedge heads (and the hemi heads of course).

The heads you have are considered very poor. They only have a 1.6" exhaust valve.

can they have been ported to be big enough for the rest of the engine? or shhould i get new heads?

the car runs wery good and has gone 402m on 12,2 sek
i allways thougt i had 906 heads!! cant belive i have 383 heads??

Yes that is possible. But you cannot tell without taking one off and looking.

They used the 906 heads on 383 and 440 engines during the 1968-1970 model years. If you find that you need new heads look for any that were made from 1968 - on for any 383/400/440.
Or just buy a pair of Edelbrock heads. :D

The 2406516 heads actually work pretty well with the addition of the later 1.74 exhaust valve during rebuild. Depends how high you're spinning the motor. Be sure to port the exhaust bowls after enlarging, cleanup the intake side as well, and backcut the intake valves.

They are a closed chamber head, some benefits there depending on your pistons.
