i dont want to lite any fires,but do need help figuring out what is what.a 1970 rt/se challenger,built the second day of sept 1969 with a 335hp/383 with original drivetrain intact,but missing buildsheet, should have what? carb?. i have the dodge fact/manual and it lists 7-8 carbs,some holley some carter. would any be correct? non-calif car,with auto trans and a/c. i was thinking that it was built so far into 69 that the 70 book may not pertain. any one have a solid answer? because we all have our opinions and i want to get this car right. 10-Q , Tooch

The info at http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/engine/b ... HRY-70.rtf suggests Holley 4369, 4218. The 330hp version got a Carter.

Paul Herd's restoration guide (which is not always reliable) says;

Holley model 4160 numbers R4737A, R4739A (California and shaker), R4368A, R4218A (California).

I think that R4368A (Auto trans) is correct. Anyone with Chilton´s repair handbook should be able to confirm this. (I can´t find mine at the moment since we have moved to a new garage)

(My originally 318" car now has a 383"/335hp. If my memory serves me right it has a R4368A on top of it.)

I would not be suprised if there was variation over time and from plant to plant with the exact model numbers. I would also not be suprised if some came with Carters.

My old 70 Rt convertible(383) came with a Holley it had a Sept build date.
The servive manual also showed that the holley was stardard equipment for this engine. Talk about mopar putting on anything that they had laying around, My car had argent silver grill and headlight benzels while most Rt's had black ones. I know for a fact that my car was unmolsted at the time I bought it back in 1977 from the little old school teacher.

ok, i appreciate the replies, i guess im looking for a 4368 or a 4369 , but just as an added twist how about a carb dated 2 or 3 months before production date? in this case something like june/july 69? or should i stick with 1970 numbers? TOOCH prod.date 9/03/69 jsnob113556

o yeah, there is a 29 missing in that vin. classic case of fingers working,brain not!..TOOCH
