FWIW. From the latest Mopar Muscle Magazine, "Rated at a conservative 360 hp and 360 lb.-ft of torque, Mopar Performance is ushering in the next wave of V8 muscle with it's 5.7 Hemi crate engine. The new 5.7 will be offered in two flavors: carbureted and electronically fuel injected. These are brand-new engines built at the Daimler-Chrysler plant, and then sent to Mopar Performance for their new controller and intake."
There was no mention of date or price. I'm guessing somewhere around 5-6 grand. Bang for buck, I'm sure the 360 and its variants will still be the best small block performers. It's interesting though, like the 5.7 Challenger build mentioned in other threads, I wonder if there will be a big demand for the 5.7 in muscle cars.
The cons: It'll probably cost 5 to 6 grand. Cheaper and plentiful 360s easily out perform it.
The pros: It'll probably be half the price of the crate 426 (If their even still making the crate 426) I think it's smaller (dimensionally) and it's gotta be lighter. Oh yeah and its a HEMI!
