Is this a big block? Must be someone's home made attempt at shielding the intake from engine heat.

Dave, was that a common practice among all the major American car companies at the time? Is it practical and worth pursuing?

More advice needed, Intake on, now throttle cable bracket does not fit. edelbrock intake on 383 1970 Chall switched from 2 barrel to 4 barrel.
Now the throttle bracket is too short... hits on the back of the intake... can't run back two bolts in.
Where can I get a bracket to fit? THANKS Wayne

Can you not just modify it Wayne? I had to cut mine about when I went from standard 4bbl intake to Holley Street Dominator. But when I changed to six pack I bought the correct bracket from Year One.
