340 Trermoquad

My Challenger has a 70 340 engine ( 10.5:1, xheads and the right exhaust manifolds). I am running a 73 intake with the stock Thermoquad carb. With a little cam it runs great. What advantage will I gain by changing to a holly?

I moved your message here because it was just a bit more than a test!

I am not sure you would gain anything if the thermoquad is working fine. The Holley has more tuning bits available. The thermoquad will keep the fuel cooler.

Anyone else want to comment?

I dont see the point in changing a good carb, T.Q's are sweet when set right, Holleys are popular cos of the cost, and tuning bits. If the carb is good, run it, and spend your cash on an Edelbrock manifold instead

I have a Edelbrock I can use. It was set aside for a 360 4 speed project and has a holly. I put a 360 (stock 76) in a 73 Swinger, it has good low end tork OK but sure does not turn the r's of the 340. I have another 360 mill to play with. I had planned to bring the compression to 10.5:1 or better, (deck the block or go with pistons) with a open cam for the straight drive. I have seen one of these before and they are really really strong. Any ideas on the 360? Deck or Pistons?

Pistons, decking starts to complicate things, like having to shave the inlet to make it fit, and is non reversable, keep it simple as you can, if it goes wrong, i.e. fuel gets even worse, you can start again, once you have decked the block it's game over, just check the block surface is flat and true to the mains
