Hans, thats not what it sounded like whether it was what you meant to say or not, of course that is what I figured, after the fact that I had already sent the message. If the carter you have is a spread bore, than it is a pretty good chance that it is a Thermoquad.

Sorry for the misunderstanding Joel, sometimes I have to look for the right words in english. A spreadbore, is that the type of carb with the four barrels at the underside which are all the same size or with two big and two small ones? Or doesn't this make any sense, if so, please say how to see the difference.

A Spread Bore carb has two small(er) barrels towards the front and two significantly larger barrels on the firewall side of the carb. The concept is for you to run off the smaller barrels (and save fuel) under normal driving conditions and have the huge back barrells available for extra power when accelerating. They are (in my opinion) the best carb's to use when they are tuned correctly - but can be a nightmare to tune properly!
