Hello, I'm having a vibration problem with my 360 4 speed challenger. At 1,800 rpm the car vibrates very badly , any other rpm it is fine. The car was orgionally a 340 and someone put in the 360. Im thinking they put the 340 flywheel on the 360. Could this be my problem? How many teeth is a 360 flywheel, there is one on E-bay that I will buy, it says it's 143 teeth. Thanks, NIck

The car is a pistol grip 4 speed A833. Im sorry about not mentioning wether it was auto or manual. I thought that a flywheel was for manual transmissions and a flexplate was for automatic. Maybe I'M wrong? Any help will do. Thanks again

Nick

I'll check into this for you Nick. I believe that the flywheels are the same. The reason I asked if it was an automatic or standard, is most people will call a flexplate the flywheel.
Will advise you as soon as I've got the right information for you.

Nick ,the 360 flywheel is different to the 340, physically they are the same diamensions, but the 360 'wheel has weight taken out of it as the engine is externally balanced, as opposed to the 340 which is internally balanced. you can check which one you have by removing the bottom tray on the bellhousing and look at the back of the flywheel ( the side faceing the engine) turn the engine over by hand and look for some large circular blind holes, if you have them it's a 360 flywheel, if not it's a 340.

Nick. I just got off the phone with an aquaintance of mine who works for the local Chrysler dealer in the parts department. According to the 73 parts book he has, the 340 does have a different flywheel than the 360. What John says in the above posting would be true.
Also remember that your 360 will have a cast iron crankshaft, vs the 340 that might have a steel crank.

Thanks alot guys for your help. Tommrow im going to check it out . I heard that having the wrong fly wheel on could actually wear out your crank faster. I would think so, the vibration is very bad. Well any way thank's , I'll keep you up to date and get some pictures of her up on here soon! Nick

It's deffiently a 340 flywheel. 132 teeth internally balaced. Now only if I can find a 132 externally balanced flywheel? This sounds like It will be hard. Thanks again.
