Engine performance

Is anyone familiar with Chryslers 360ci/380hp crate motor? I want to swap my 318 for something that will give me 13sec ets. A recent edition of Mopar Muscle actually showed this motor doing high 11's and 12's in the quarter. Just doesnt seem right to me.

I would expect you to run mid 13s with a 380 horse engine in an otherwise standard Challenger.

steve I dont know where you are but where I come from crate motors are very expencive its not that hard to get 13s out of a 360 at half the cost.
you could always stroke your 318 to 350 using the 360 crank and rods.I have one of these motors in a 1620kg car that runs a 13.6 et quater but on the other hand who wouldent want a branspanken new crate motor.

My 318 is stroked now and supposedly has 350hp at the crank. I'm a decent driver and am lucky to get low 14's as she stands now. Though I haven't had it dynoed, I'm sure I lose too much at the rear wheels and fear the crate motor will be the same way. Maybe I need to think about an even bigger motor w/ higher hp output.

What was your time and mph on the strip and i will tell you how much power your engine is making and how much you are loosing at the rear wheels.

What most people forget is that a drag strip is a dyno.
