Oil Sending Unit Differences

Postby cv70chall » 16 Apr 2015 17:58

I'm wanting to replace the sending unit currently on my new 440. It's the "larger style" and I don't know if I should replace it with exactly the same type- or with the smaller sending unit.
I only have the "OIL" light on my console and some articles say the smaller sending unit is for the oil warning light.
Is this true or does the larger style unit work the same?

Thanks

You're right mate, the large bell shaped one is for a gauge, the small one is for the warning light.

There are two diffrent types of sending units for guage ! From about April in 1971 they changed the sending unit to 100psi and before that they were 80psi  could be usefull info for some one later on and they also look diffrent in apperence.

Good info Pat

I have had two different types of gauge sender and assumed that was down to changing OEM suppliers.
