Mopar 360 Heads

Postby cv70chall » 15 Jan 2015 19:55

Going to finally replace the 318 heads that are currently on my 360 (I know I know!!! Geez).
Found a fully machined set of 360 Heads at a good price.
Cast#4027596
Are they the correct 360 heads for my engine? Should be much better than the 318 heads currently residing there.

?

To answer your question,,yes, they are correct for a LA 360. Yes,,the ports are better than the small 318 ports and will flow a bit better. Have you already purchased them and what is your budget because there are way better cast iron heads available if you want a stock appearance or even better aluminum heads that will shave off at least 50 Lbs. and perform better as well. The drawback with stock LA 318 or 360 iron heads is the open chamber. If you have a zero or near zero deck height I would take advantage of that. Those valves look like the original 2 piece valves,,I wouldn't run strong springs or an aggressive cam with those. EngineQuest Iron 360 Heads with LA intake bolt pattern or Eds 360 Alluminum heads,,an Eds RPM AirGap intake and a 770 Holley Avenger would wake that 360 up Chuck! lol no pun intended

Chuck,,if you want a 'blueprint' of a simple 360 built with OOTB parts,,and fitted with Engine Quest Cast iron heads and decent streetable mild cam made 400 HP easy. MoPar Muscle magazine,,,the latest issue,,anyone could build it!

Unfortunately, I don't have $850- $1150 to spend on heads. (Wife politics LOL), so being able to improve upon the 318 heads is a step in the right direction.
The 318 heads I currently have are using the 360 valves, springs and rods. (I had the valve openings widened for the slightly larger 360 valves in the 318 heads).
Either way, short of Santa dropping a 383 or 440 on my doorstep, I have to do what I can to get the most out of this 360.
