Never Trust Family!

It's been a while since I've posted, mainly due to the weather here and not being able to do much work, but we recently made some rather bad discoveries when we had the car on the lift while changing the trans/ filter and installing the inspection plate, etc.
After purchasing this car, I knew it needed some work and my Brother In-law offered to help handle the partial restorations, mainly because he knew body work and happened to work for a shop. I gave him the car and made sure if he needed any parts for it to inform me and I would get him whatever he needed. One such request involved the trunk floor, which was rotted and needed to be replaced. I purchased and shipped him a brand new one, expecting this to go smoothly.
Boy was I in for a surprise!
When we dropped the gas tank to install the gas tank pad and inspect the rear of the car for undercoating, we found that the trunk floor had not been welded in - but installed with metal and wood screws!!! WTF!!!
We then decided to remove the floor, we came across an even more disturbing thing. The gas tank supports were not mounted above the rear frame lip, but rather under it- AND- were held in place by wood screws as well. Real nice...real safe...
Needless to say, this has all come out and new metal is being installed so that this support and floor section will install properly.
You learn some valuable lessons along the road of life...
One of them is NEVER NEVER trust family.

You know the old saying; you can choose your friends but you cant choose your family!
Never mind Chuck, it could've been a lot worse and at least you're on top of it and will be satisfied it's done right

Agreed. It's just hard to imagine that mess supporting a full tank of gas rolling down the road- and hitting a bump or two.

We'll get it sorted..Just another thing to set us back from my being able to actually enjoy this car as it's been such a long process.
