Chassis/Frame connectors

Postby redgum78 » 31 Jan 2011 13:19

Hello all,
I am going to fit chassis connectors to my Challenger but am woundering if this will effect any of the inspections and roadworthy check that a imported vehicle has to pass here in Australia. As it is a modification to the frame I am thinking the inspectors might want an enginering report befor passing it? Now is the time to fit them while the car is stripped but I am thinking I should finish the resto and get it inspected and then fit the frame connectors later.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

It is a frame re-enforcement so you are adding strength. Do they not take that into consideration?

Or you could weld on those close fitting laser cut versions because they look like a stock full chassis when fitted.

Would they work as well as box section? They don't look to have a lot of depth on the back section in the photo's I have seen. They do look nice and clean though.

They are box section as the floor acts as the top side. The volume of the box does not need to be great. Anything to join the front and rear subframes together works. If you include welding to the floorpan as well that really stiffens the whole unibody up.
