Rear Sway Bar Bushings

I am looking for replacement bushings for 72 Challenger rear factory sway bar. I have found that front end links for a 69 road runner are the same as 72 challenger rear end links. Any help on the rear bushings would be greatly appreciated.

The Challenger rear swaybar bushings weren't servisable. That's why the retaining straps are welded to the frame mounts. B-bodies were servisable and have the straps bolted to the mounts.

I have never seen replacement bushings. I had to cut mine off the bar because they were so hard. I found a guy who is sending me his origonal ones since he modified a poly bushing to fit.

So, you'll have to find a poly bushing with the same diameter as the bar and modify it to fit.

Does that mean I should'nt worry about seeing a factory installation? May as well wait 'till ready and fit an aftermarket product :thumbsup:

Modifing a poly bushing is quite easy. Cuts clean with a sharp blade

Burdar, did you need to drill the weld on the (one) tab then fit the new one?

I don't have the replacement bushings yet. My plan is to prime the two pieces with a weld through primer and weld the retaining strap back on with the bushings inplace. Then I can mask off the bushings to paint the brackets.

My thoughts also. I think the weld can be "groomed" to look pretty much factory. Fortunately mine are still in good shape for now.

This post is probably a bit late, but here's my rear end (car that is). As shown in the last picture, I drilled out the spot weld and after deliberating on how to best fasten them to the chassis (i bought new bush U mounts from a suspension place) i welded some bolts to that chassis square bracket connector so as to make studs. Then simply put the new bush U clamps onto the 'stud' with a nyloc nut and is now serviceable. Works well. Sorry pictures are not zoom detailed but should be able to see them well enough. If you are a stickler for originality though, you probably won't want to do this!
