Intermittent Right rear popping.

All, I recently acquired a 73 rallye and installed new gas shocks on the front and Max Airs on the back.

I have since noticed a popping in the right rear, crawled under to see if anything was loose, etc but could find nothing.

Have you got to the bottom of this yet? Is it a faulty shock?

not yet,

The shocks are brand new, did not think that it would be a shock problem? had removed from the right rear what looked like a muffker hangar but reinstalled to see if maybe the tail pipe was bottoming out................

I will check shocks out, anyway to test if its a shock problem without just replacing?

Swap them side to side and see if the sound switches sides.

You said it sounded like a "pop" which to me suggests compressed air.

If the sound is a "clunk" I would be looking at exhaust clearence.
