hey
I've heard alot of hype lately about different kinds of car bodies. I've heard that the Challenger has an "E" body and I was wondering what that referes to? Is the the shape of the frame or something? I've also hear about "A" body's also. If someone out there knows what this means I'd appreciate the feed back.

To put it simply...
A-Body '64-76 Valiant, '64-69 Barracuda, '64-76 Dart, all Duster, Demon, Scamp, and Swinger
B-Body '63-79 Coronet, Savoy, Satellite, Road Runner, Charger, GTX, R/T, Belvedere, Super Bee, Cordoba, '76-78 Monaco
C-Body '65-78 Polara, Gran Fury, New Yorker, Imperial, Monaco
E-Body '70-74 Barracuda, Challenger

You might also hear the term "uni-body" which refers to the actual design of the car (front/rear frame rails that attach to the floor plans, as opposed to a car that has full length frame rails front-rear). FWIW hope it helps.

Just to push the point a little more. The (letter)-body refers to the chassis or platform and not the actual body of the car.

Each division of Chrysler could design their own cars but all had to be based on the same platforms so that common components like the steering and suspension would fit.
