Frame Rail Replacement

Postby Dan Little (Thelittles) » 23 Aug 2003 2:13

Has anyone ever tackled the job of replacing frame rails. I will be either welding a plate or repair channel to the existing drivers frame rail or just replacing it all together. If anyone has done one I would like to know how it went and is there any tips that might be helpful?

This is quite a project if your talking a full rail. The key is replacing less is sometimes better and making some type of jig to hold everything in place once you start cutting.E-mail me some pic's and I may be able to help with ideas.

Tony, I actually have two cars in work right now my 71 conv. will get a complete restoration and all rails are very bad. My 71 r/t will need only one drivers side repair. From what I can see the others are solid. I will get you some pictures.
thx
