FORUM UPDATED

Forum software has been updated to latest version (phpbb 3.0.8). If you spot errors let us know. If you hate how it looks now let us still know. Old theme is not compatible with this version so it could not be preserved.

I just found one thing that was better in the previous version. Default behavior when clicking on a picture is now to open it in the current windows. It used to be in a popup window, which was easier (I didn't have to click Back to go back to the topic, opening several pics from a thread was easy).
Of course, I will get used to Ctrl-click pretty quick if it stays that way.

Good point. Any hyperlinks open in the current window which can be annoying.

... another thing, the screen doesn't adjust for larger images hosted off-site (photobucket etc). Even those only 1000 pixels wide. It simply cuts them off and doesn't either expand, or give you a scroll bar.

Like so ... cut's about 1/3 of the image off.

Image

Not too big a deal. Just means I either have to alter the image sizes for anything I want to put on this site, or attach them all via the site, which if everyone starts doing will eat up more server bandwidth.

Hi Russ. Yes, I noticed this, but haven't had time to fix it yet. When I get this problem solved it will cover also all old posts including picture you just posted.

I wouldn't worry about bandwidth and disk space. I'm already serving gigabytes of random data to all spambots trying to register. It seems they will download as much junk as I'm sending to them. Over 30 gigabytes during last 6 hours alone. :)

I actually would prefer hosting posted pictures here. We already have dozens of older threads that link to pictures from other sites that no longer exist. Most likely many of those threads should be deleted as those pictures were basis of entire discussion. Anyway, I'm not going to try push anyone to either direction as it's up to photographer where he wants to host his pictures. Also if they're posted to more than one place it's far easier to use image hosting site and those tend to have far better tools to handle uploading pics than we have on this forum.

"View new posts" shows recently active posts. "View unread posts" shows all unread posts you have. I'm using unread posts link myself.

Images are now resized to fit screen. Clicking image will show it full size.

As for opening links in new window I think it's something that was neat when browsers didn't have tabs and should be avoided today.

Wasn´t there a "View recent posts"-feature before? I think it was. Is it gone or am I blind? :?

Below the window you write a message in are two tabs. The first tab says "Options". You need to click on the tab to the right of that labled "Upload attachment". Then click "browse" to find the picture file you want to attach and then click "add the file" to upload it.
Repeat as needed before submitting the post.

No you should see that option to post images. i will look into it. I can see the tab so it must be something linked to your profile.

The admin board controls are a lot more complicated than they used to be. I THINK I have sorted it. But you had better try it yourself.

I did find a setting to give me the same permissions as yourself (so I could see your problem!) but having attempted to change your profile permissions I now can't remember how I got to try your permissions. I am getting too old for this stuff.

Ian, can you try again now? There was setting that prevented editing of over 60 days old posts. I have now removed this limitation.
